Russia: Largest flavour intensifiers plant launched

French company the Diana Group has launched a plant for the production of flavour intensifiers for petfood in the town of Shebekino in Belgorod Oblast of Russia, according to a report by local media Abireg.

According to official information, the volume of investment in the construction of Shebekinsky plant exceeded RUB 300 million (US$4.882 million). The design capacity is 6,000 tonnes per year.

The decision to place the facility on the territory of Belgorod Oblast was reached due to the presence of a large number of livestock production, waste and by-products in the area, which are used as raw materials for the manufacture of flavour intensifiers.

It is reported that the Shebekinsky plant has signed contracts with the several local livestock companies, including poultry processors White Bird and Prioskolye, as well as pig producers GC Agro-Belogorye for the supply of raw materials for the production of flavour intensifiers.

The new plant is believed to be the largest facility for the production of flavour intensifiers for petfood on the territory of Post Soviet Union. The decision to construct this facility has been taken due to the devaluation of the Russian rouble against hard currency, which has cut the ability of local manufacturers to import these products from abroad.
