Maize seed dealers arrested in Zambia
Four men have been arrested in Mazabuka, Zambia in connection with the sale of fake maize seed to unsuspecting farmers, The Times of Zambia reports today.
Manex Mwanamukanka, sales representative of Zambia Seed Company in
Mazabuka said that the four were arrested at the Zambia Institute of Animal
Health (ZIAH) as they were selling the seed packed in Zamseed bags.
He said
his company was worried about the increased reports of people using Zamseed bags
to cheat unsuspecting farmers especially those coming from rural areas. He said
some farmers had complained and protested to his office over the fake
seed.
