UK animal feed maker bags five new deals
Davidsons Animal Feeds in the UK has won several new animal feed tenders worth almost £1million. The company secured deals with five farm buying co-operatives around Scotland and the north-east of England.
The company manufactures and supplies feed for various forms of livestock from its facilities in Shotts. It can produce more than 1,000 tonnes of feed per day and has storage capacity for 22,000 tonnes.
William Davidson, operations director, said: "Increasingly, individual customers are banding together into buying groups so several customers are rolled up into one tender. "This year we have been fairly successful in gaining six – one renewal and five new. "We try to match and exceed the requirements and services the tender looks for."
However, the bulk of its £17m turnover is done directly with the 3,500 farmers it sup-plies. Rising raw material prices coupled with lower food prices have affected the business in recent months.
