25-03-2009 | |

SINTEF and Nofima signed a collaboration agreement to provide an exciting future for the Norwegian fisheries and aquaculture industry.

"SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture and Nofima are both leaders in research at a high international level. Our areas of competence complement each other very well, which makes this collaboration extremely exciting," says an expectant President of SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture Karl Almås.

SINTEF and Nofima are both industry-oriented research institutes, meaning their objective is to provide the industry today and in the future with knowledge and solutions which will provide competitive advantages. SINTEF contributes its broad competence in technology, energy and environment, while Nofima is one of Europe’s largest research communities within breeding and genetics, feed and energy, product development and fish welfare.

"Nofima is extremely happy to be the first institute in Tromsø entering into such collaboration with SINTEF. Together with your technology competence, we can do an enormous amount for the Norwegian fisheries and aquaculture industry, as well as within other sectors involving a combination of food and technology. We look forward to working together with a partner who has the same intense desire to be there for the business community," says Nofima CEO- President Ørjan Olsvik, who despite the signing and associated festivities did not miss the opportunity to point out that this agreement does not cover everything.
