AFIA unveils special centennial celebration web pages

02-06-2009 | |

One hundred years of history-making people, issues and events is the subject of a new section of the American Feed Industry Association’s Website (www.afia.org).

The Web pages complement other elements of the association’s year-long Centennial Celebration, which launched March 11, 2009. A link to the special section of about 15 pages also may be found on the left navigation bar of AFIA’s home page under the header, “AFIA Centennial 1909-2009.”

The AFIA Centennial Celebration section is designed to complement elements already introduced by the organization earlier this spring. AFIA published a 112-page hardcover book, “Delivering On Our Promises: AFIA Celebrates 100 Years,” and produced a 13-minute film, “The Promises Live On,” that convey the association’s history through attractive photos and compelling narratives. The book and film debuted at a gala event hosted by the association at the time of its Spring Forum and Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference in Florida in March. The association also revealed a new logo at that time; the new logo highlights the anniversary with the inclusion of “1909-2009” at its top.

The special Centennial Celebration Web pages build on the book and film. One Web page is devoted to each of the ten decades of the association’s life, with a summary of key news about the association during that time on each page. Photos are displayed throughout the special section. The information and materials presented in the book, film and Web pages largely are the result of member-companies and industry veterans sharing photos, memorabilia and stories during the production of these resources. Without these tangible contributions and the generous financial support of AFIA members, the Centennial Celebration would not be possible.

In addition, AFIA is marking its one-hundredth anniversary with a series of ads in various publications that focus on the feed industry.
