10-02-2010 | |

CloSTAT™, a new probiotic from Kemin Agrifoods, has gained approval for use in poultry feeds in the European Union.

The active ingredient of CloStat – a unique strain of Bacillus subtilis PB6 – has received full approval from the European Commission under the number 4b1823 on February 8, 2010 after a positive assessment by EFSA and approval by the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health.

The strain of Bacillus subtilis PB6 was isolated and selected from the gut of healthy chicken and has targeted activity against Clostridium, a major organism responsible for disturbing animal health.

Athan Katsanos, President of Kemin Agrifoods Europa, comments “CloStat is an example of Kemin’s strategy to excel in product innovation and bring novel solutions to the agrifoods industry. With CloStat the poultry industry has access to a novel and reliable strategy to raise broilers in healthy conditions.”

As a natural solution to support animal health, Kemin’s probiotic maintains a balanced gastro intestinal tract and has demonstrated its efficacy to raise poultry in a natural environment, reducing mortality and lesion scores due to necrotic enteritis.

Numerous research and field research trials have demonstrated that the probiotic is a reliable solution to maintain a balanced gastro intestinal tract.

Consequently lower mortalities, increases in body weight and improved feed conversion are returned.
