Land O’Lakes subsidiary Moark recalls potentially tainted eggs

27-08-2010 | |

Moark, a Land O’Lakes Inc. subsidiary, is recalling nearly 292,000 eggs that may be contaminated with salmonella, the company said.

Moark is recalling repackaged eggs sourced from Hillandale Farms, one of two Iowa producers responsible for a widespread recall due to an alleged salmonella contamination.

President and CEO Craig Willardson said none of the eggs were produced by his company. Moark acted quickly to notify the Food and Drug Administration and keep customers safe, he said.

"Moark has been carefully monitoring the situation with Hillandale Farms of Iowa, and once we were notified that Moark had received eggs from this producer, we immediately notified customers to ensure that any eggs included in the recall were withdrawn from the marketplace," he said in a statement.

Moark, a subsidiary of the Arden Hills-based food and agricultural cooperative Land O’ Lakes, is based in Fontana, California.
