ABCA sponsers World Dairy Summit 2013 in Japan

ABCA will be one of the sponsors for this year’s IDF World Dairy Summit 2013 held in Yokohama, Japan on 28 October – 1 November. This dairy event is estimated to attract over 2000 industry leaders attending from Japan and around the globe.

The meeting’s theme: “Re-discovering Milk,” aims to bring together all parties concerned with the current challenges in dairy production and supply to discuss ways in which to revitalise dairy farming and the dairy industry worldwide.

This sponsorship is part of ABCA’s industry involvement programme and reflects its commitment towards supporting food safety and sustainability projects related to the dairy industry. With this, ABCA can further develop relationships with industry leaders, enabling greater understanding and support for their issues and needs.

The feed industry needs to strengthen its reputation; customers today rightly expect full traceability, high quality and safe food. James Charteris-Hough, Managing Director, ABCA, explained that, “ABCA is a division of AB Agri Group. The company is proud of its achievements in Europe on improving food quality standards through sound legislation and practical guidelines in the food supply chain. AB Agri is a leader in this area, its experts not only working with authorities in Europe but increasingly elsewhere, for example in China where it is coordinating joint EU / China food safety initiatives. It is believed that this approach and solutions we offer today can also be useful in Japan, working to improve quality standards and production efficiency.”

In addition to providing pearl sponsorship for the event, the organiser has also invited Dr Michael Marsden, AB Agri’s leading ruminant nutritionist to present a paper entitled, “Practical solutions to reducing the risk of on-farm milk contamination using HACCP principles in the UK” at the Friday ‘Food Safety’ session.

In conjunction to Dr. Marsden’s presentation at this event, ABCA will be producing a useful guide on the key risk areas for milk contamination from field to farm for day to day milk production. A copy of this guide will be made available at ABCA booth (#29) for delegates to take with them.
