Belarus lifts ban on import of feed from Russia

Belarus has lifted the ban on the import of feed and feed additives from Russian regions Krasnodar Krai, North Ossetia, Saratov and Tambov Oblasts. The ban was lifted since for the past twelve months, no new cases of African Swine Fever have been reported in these regions.

Belarus does however keep in place the ban on import of live pigs, pork and processed pork products from those regions. Moreover, the Belarus veterinary maintains the ban on import of feed components and premixes containing raw material from pigs, in particular meat-and-bone meal.

Russian feed caused outbreaks of African Swine Fever

According to numerous reports compound feed production in Russia was the most common cause of ASF outbreaks in Russia, as the country’s veterinary services does not conduct any control on the presence of ASF pathogen in feed production on the domestic market.

No new cases of foot-and-mouth disease

Simultaneously, Belarus removed temporary restrictions on the import of veterinary controlled goods, including feed, from the Russian regions of Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and the Amur Oblast, since there have been no new cases of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) there.
