23-11-2007 | |

The government of India will submit a proposal to the State Planning Board to give subsidy for cattle feed in the state.

Announcing this at a press briefing after the regional
conference of animal husbandry and dairy development ministers, C.Divakaran,
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, said that
the proposal would be placed before the Board at a meeting scheduled for
November 29.

“We are the only state where the dairy farmers are not being
given any kind of subsidy. This needs to be changed. The Planning Board

husbandry sectors would be given more importance in the forthcoming 11th Plan,”
said the Minister.

He also told the reporters that the State Government
has been taking necessary measures to deal with milk shortage.
