AFIA completes annual liquid feed tonnage survey
Eleven American liquid feed manufacturing companies participated in the 2010 annual liquid feed tonnage survey by providing their 2008 and 2009 liquid supplement production data.
The manufactured liquid feed reported in this survey is divided into five major categories: beef feedlot, dairy rations, range supplementation, feed mill blends and poured blocks. This report does not include simple molasses blend products.
The data has been summarized as an overview of the production levels in each of the five categories and to view trends and specific areas of concern or of growth.
All categories of liquid supplement production show a slowdown in 2009 production levels, certainly due in part to the overall economic downturn and resulting herd reductions. Dairy rations were hardest hit.
