Indonesian feed industry on the rise again
After being hit by bird flu, the poultry consumption seems to increase again
in Indonesia. This increase is expected to increase the Indonesian animal feed
output with 5% to 7.5 million tonnes this year.
Despite an expected rise in feed demand, Budiarto
Soebijanto, chairman of the Indonesian Feedmills Association said Indonesia's
corn imports would fall to around 1 million tonnes this year, from 1.7 million
tonnes in 2006 due to expected higher corn output.
The statistics bureau
expects the country's corn output to rise 7.24% to 12.45 million tonnes this
year from 11.61 million tonnes in 2006. Soymeal imports this year are estimated
to remain stable at 1.7-1.8 million tonnes.
