Australian grain harvest on track

11-12-2008 | |

Graincorp in Australia says it has already received more than six million tonnes from the current harvest and says it is on track to meet forecasts of 7.5 million to 10 million tonnes.

Although the projected harvest is much higher than last year, it is still way
short of earlier estimates of a bumper crop because of unfavourable weather
rainfall. Especially in eastern states of Australia spring rain has caused
widespread crop damage.
