Cargill expands grain storage capacity
Cargill Limited will be significantly increasing storage capacity at its local grain handling facility. This expansion will enhance existing grain storage by 20,000 metric tonnes (mt) supported by additional car spotting and cleaning capacity. Construction is set to begin over the next two months and scheduled for completion in the fall of 2007.
The North Battleford facility serves customers throughout
northwestern Saskatchewan. Facility Manager for Cargill’s North Battleford
facility, is excited to see this project underway. “This is an initiative done
specifically with our customers in mind,” he noted.
32,000mt
capacity
The current facility, in its seventh
year of operation, consists of a 50-railcar load spot, a grain dryer and 12,000
mt of existing storage space. The expansion will increase the total storage
capacity of the facility to 32,000mt. The location also houses a full-service
crop inputs centre offering a full range of agricultural products and services,
including pesticides for crop protection, fertilizer and seed, as well as
Cargill’s grain marketing and crop management products.
The storage facility
is being designed and built by FWS Construction Ltd., a Cargill strategic
alliance partner known for its design and construction work of inland grain
terminals across western Canada and the northern United States.
