Horse nutrition

Horses are non-ruminant herbivores of a type known as a "hind-gut fermentor." This means that horses have only one stomach, as do humans. However, unlike humans, they also have to digest plant fiber (largely cellulose) that comes from grass and hay. Therefore, unlike ruminants, who digest fiber in plant matter by use of a multi-chambered stomach, horses use microbial fermentation in a part of the digestive system known as the cecum (or caecum) to break down cellulose.
Bio-Energy

The production of bio fuels to replace oil and natural gas is in active development, focusing on the use of cheap organic matter (usually cellulose, agricultural and sewage waste). Although bio fuels are seen as a way to diminish our dependence on fossi...
Pelleting

Pellets can be defined as agglomerated feed formed by compacting and forcing through die openings by a mechanical process. Thus pelleting is having agglomerated feed by compaction and forced through die openings.
Probiotics

Probiotics are defined as live microorganisms, including Lactobacillus species, Bifidobacterium species and yeasts that may beneficially affect the host upon ingestion by improving the balance of the intestinal microflora of animals.
Plant extracts

Plant extracts (phytogenics) are a group of natural growth promoters (NGPs) derived from herbs, spices or other plants.
Aquafeed

The aqua culture industry is rapidly growing as a result of the growing demand for fish. In addition, over the years more knowledge has been gained how to commercially produce tropical fish in cages, which has resulted in the farming of over 200 fish sp...
Pet food
