Coccidiosis (Eimeria acervulina) is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract caused by microscopic organisms called coccidia. The disease spreads from one animal to another by contact with infected feces. It is most severe in young or weak animals and often causes bloody diarrhea.
A three-year PhD study at the University of Leeds and continuing research have shown the potential for the combination of thymol and carvacrol as a feed microadditive to limit the production impact of Eimeria challenge.
