Moistening the MASH // 01 Jun 2001

There are two types of moisture: bound moisture and added moisture. Bound moisture is chemically or physically bound to ingredient components and is not easily removed. Added moisture is added at the conditioner or mixer and serves to soften feed particles  and lubricate the mash as it moves through the die.
