: Animal Nutrition - Africa (Dr Hinner Köster)

His current scientific contributions include 45 international and national scientific papers and abstracts (including 2 book chapters as co-author) and more than 100 popular press articles. He has also presented more than 20 invited papers at National and International Conferences.
Köster still remains actively involved with university research, being advisor for several Ph.D. and M.Sc. Agric. students and external examiner for post- and pregraduate courses. He also reviews national and international research papers and articles.
Currently, Dr Köster serves on various agricultural related committees, many as chairman. Within the South African Animal Feed Manufacturers Association he is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors and still actively participates in all the different committees. Until recently he acted as Chairman of the Technical and Liasion Committees and was previously Chairman of the Conference and Editorial Committees.
Furthermore, he has been Vice President of the Witwatersrand Agricultural Society and since 1996 serves as a Director of the SA Hereford Breeders’ Council where he is also Chairman of the World Hereford Conference Committee.
Dr Köster is a member of the American Society of Animal Science, South African Society of Animal Production, South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions and South African Association for Professional Animal Scientists (Board member).
Until recently he held the position of Technical Director at Afgri Animal Feeds, which he joined in 1998 after a short career at the University of the Free State and Kynoch Feeds. In 2005 he started Scinetic, a Centre for Scientific Technology within Afgri Operations Ltd, where he currently holds the position of Managing Director.
In September 2001 Köster received the prestigious South African Animal Feed Manufacturers Association’s Technical Person of the Year award for his contributions made in the field of Animal Nutrition in South Africa.
