Bad harvest forces ABB Grain to close sites

Nineteen of ABB Grain's 111 receival sites will not open this harvest because of predictions of a well below average harvest in South Australia.

A further 19 will open with restricted hours while 19 will operate on a "fill and shut" basis. They will be closed once they have reached full capacity.

ABB Grain operations manager for storage and handling, Andrew Hannon, said the decision not to open, or restrict silo hours at some sites, only had been taken after discussion with local silo committees. "With more than 10 million tonnes of grain storage capacity, it simply is 

"However, we have done the right thing and explained to growers, through local site committees, the reasons behind the decision."
