US feed mill fire is still burning

// 28 feb 2007

A fire that broke out Sunday in a three-story section of a feed mill of Zeigler Bros. Inc was still burning in places Monday afternoon, fire officials said. Because of the collapsing involved, certain hot spots were unreachable until the cleanup process started.

The fire in the Tyrone Township village, USA was discovered about 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The mill produces fish and shrimp feed. The company has another mill in East Berlin, USA that is not fully staffed. Some of the people will be relocated to this facility. The two mills work together to supply specialty feed to different markets both locally and internationally.

The company was founded in 1935, and up until 1967, it produced chicken and livestock feed. Thomas Zeigler, the company's president and chief executive officer, changed the company's focus. The Gardners mill now specializes in zoo animal feed and aquaculture feed. The East Berlin facility primarily produces feed for animals used in laboratory research and pet food.

Even developing countries are no longer isolated but part of a global world and are therefore partially regulated by universally established control systems at all stages of production and in all sectors of their industry.Read more...
