According to ForFarmers, the increase in feed conversion and the feed costs
is mainly due to the ban on antibiotic growth promoters, which came info effect
in January 1st 2006. Nevertheless, the technical results were better in 2006,
compared to the year before. Meat percentage increase from 56.3 to 56.5%.
Furthermore, the mortality rate in fattening pigs decreases from 3.0 to 2.8%.
Slaughter characteristics
Live weight of fattening
pigs increases with half a kilo to 116.1 kilo. Slaughter weight increased with
0.3 kilo to 90.3 kilo. Farrowing weight decreases with 0.2 kilo to 25.3 kilo.
However, the growth rate of the fattening pigs decreased 2 grams to 772 grams
per day.
