In announcing the North American recall for its "cuts and gravy" style pet food, the manufacturer said it has undertaken the product testing but no results have yet been revealed regarding the cause of illness and death. 

Wheat gluten
Paul Henderson, the company's president and chief executive officer said, "At this juncture, we're not 100% sure what's happened." According to company spokeswoman Sarah Tuite, the recalled products were manufactured from wheat gluten, a source of protein that it purchased from a new supplier. The recalled food consists of chunks of meat in gravy, sold in cans and small foil pouches.

List of names
The food that has been specifically targeted for recall was sold between Dec. 3 and March 6 throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
In order to determine whether cat and dog food in their possession is subject to recall, consumers should refer to the list of brand names ("listed products").
Products not identified on the website can continue to be used. Menu is the leading North American private-label/contract manufacturer of wet pet food products sold by supermarket retailers, mass merchandisers, pet specialty retailers and other retail and wholesale outlets.
