In a decision released on November 28, the MARD stipulated that the
acceptable melamine quantity in animal feeds is not more than 2.5mg per
kilo.
The decision was made after the Animal Feed Consultative Council
(gathering experts from the Animal Husbandry Agency, the Aquaculture Agency, and
the Ministry of Health) carefully researched regulations of the US, Canada, the
EU, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Kim Giao, said in principle, Vietnam doesn’t accept melamine in animal feed but
the threshold of 2.5mg is equivalent to zero. Previously the agency asked
traders to not import and buy animal feeds and materials that contain melamine.
For human food, Vietnam does not accept melamine.
