As one of the last bastions of the UK's agricultural research, Reading
University's School of Agriculture, Policy and Development has had to
move with the times, but it remains a thriving research community.

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) awarded
CAN$22 million (US$19.4m) for four major projects at the University of
Saskatchewan to advance research into the health of agricultural workers and
high-value feed products, metals in the brain, and toxins in

Degussa has formally opened its Bio Science-to-Business Center in Marl, North
Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In this innovative centre for white biotechnology, 60
highly qualified employees will collaborate with academia and industry to
develop new biotechnological products and processes based on renewable raw
materials.
St. Louis Zoo in Missouri, USA has begun operations in its new Animal
Nutrition Center on June 28. This 10,000-square-foot facility offers high-tech
capabilities for extensive research in zoo nutrition.
EU Commissioner, Charlie McCreevy, officially opened the new £5.6 million
Keenan Manufacturing Centre at the company's headquarters at Borris, County
Carlow. The centre will conduct research in technology, engineering and animal
nutrition.
Kiotechagil is conducting its first trials at Plumpton College in Sussex. The
trials are being undertaken in conjunction with the College’s piggery, a modern
teaching facility on the College’s 600 hectare farm, to assess improvement in
the feed conversion ratio of pigs.
