Agricultural producers in Moldova don't hurry up to make contracts for
delivery of grain for State Reserves of Moldova, expecting to make a better
price later.
The monopoly wheat exporter AWB has vetoed several applications by other
grain handlers to export wheat. The West Australian company CBH and other groups
had lodged applications with the Wheat Export Authority.
Encouraged by the fact that the price of soy beans rose by about 15% during
October, many Brazilian farmers who have not yet completed summer plantings are
sowing soy rather than maize or cotton.
Many Malasian pig farmers are suspected of using the banned drug beta-agonist
in their pig feed. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek therefore
urged consumers to be patient until the authorities complete their checks on pig
farmers and pork sellers.
The European Commission issued a questions

The Codex
Alimentarius is an international code of model food law. If governmental
legislation is in compliance with Codex standards it cannot be successfully
challenged under the rules of the World Trade Organisation. After the European
feed scandals in 1999 and 2000 animal feed was included in the task force for
safe production of food.
By using a
simple enzyme in the conditioner of the extruder it is possible to increase
capacity by 20-30% without changing the other parameters. Klaus Pommer of
enzyme manufacturer Novozymes presented these latest findings in processing
aids at the Orffa petfood information day in, The Netherlands.
The
Philippine feed milling industry is expected to grow by at least 7% annually,
say Ric Pinca of feedmiller association PAFMI. This is due to the hiked demand
for poultry, pigs and even fish, which will consume more processed animal
feeds.
