Ontario-based Menu Foods Income Fund announced the
tentative settlements on April 1. Lawyers for the company and plaintiffs in the
lawsuits initially said they would disclose the details May 1. But Thursday, the
lawyers told a federal judge that they would need until May 8 to finish the
document. A court hearing on the settlement is scheduled for May 14 in U.S
District Court in Camden.
Last year, Menu-produced foods were linked to the deaths of several otherwise healthy pets. The pet food was discovered to contain wheat gluten imported from China that was contaminated with melamine, a chemical used to make plastics.
