Petfood and feed for commercial farm animals are usually of excellent nutritional quality. Yet there is much to gain, in improved health and well being of animals, by enriching diets with non-nutritional components that provide proper exercise to the immune system. Such components, which may reduce the risk of disease and counteract suffering due to chronic infections, are also highly relevant for the petfood sector.
