Yes, the safety margins for minerals in diets are way too high. We can easily go lower without losing animal performance and health.

No, for some animal species we still don't know how low we can go (before the animal gets a deficiency of a certain mineral). So, more research should be carried out before we can adjust the inclusion rates at commercial farms.
