"When we use the word BSE, you already have a disadvantage in the
discussion," says Beerendonk. The European ban on using MBM dates back to 15
December 2000. Since that date, no animal protein can be used in animal feed, to
prevent BSE from spreading.
Vion would like to reopen the discussion of
a possible reintroduction of MBM or a relaxation of the ban. If European
partners are willing to join this discussion is not clear yet.
