Royal De Heus enters Brazilian pig feed market

Netherlands based Royal De Heus teams up with Nutrifarms in Brazil. The joint venture will give the Dutch feed miller access to the Brazilian pig and piglet feed market.

Royal De Heus acquired a majority interest in Nutrifarms Ltda. De Heus considers the forming of this joint venture to be a key strategic step towards building a leading position in the internationally important Brazilian market for animal feed and nutritional supplements.

Nutrifarms is one of the market leaders in the field of pig concentrates, premixes and nutritional specialties and believes there are still excellent opportunities for further growth in adjacent product categories and customer groups.

The founder of Nutrifarms, Henrique da Silva Passos, will continue to be involved very closely in the company and views the acquisition as an important impulse for further developments.

As a joint shareholder, Da Silva Passos will remain responsible for nutrition, product development, as well as various customer relationships.

The day to day management of Nutrifarms will be in the hands of Hermanus Wigman, who has  broad experience in the Brazilian pig sector.
