New software makes Agrifirm Feed more efficient

Agrifirm Feed, part of the Royal Agrifirm Group, has chosen a new software solution to optimise production and logistics scheduling.

Agrifirm has teamed up with Quintiq, an expert in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O). The Quintiq software will provide Agrifirm Feed planners with an integrated view of the entire supply chain.

Previously, Agrifirm Feed planned production and logistics independently of each other. This meant that the planners faced limited access to parts of the planning process. As a result, planners had reduced visibility throughout the supply chain and limited understanding of the consequences of their planning decisions.

The Quintiq software solution will provide Agrifirm Feed with increased flexibility to quickly adapt to changes in both the production and logistics process. Different optimization parameters can be modified instantly, enabling Agrifirm Feed to quickly respond to new or unexpected scenarios.

Any changes made in the production plan are automatically carried through into the logistics plan and vice versa to show the consequences of changes in planning decisions. For example, if there is a delay in the production of a certain item, the system will automatically adjust the number of vehicles required to load the product, so that that they are not left standing idle.
