A new Russian production plant for animal nutrition company Kemin will be opened today in Russia.

The new facility is based in the Special Economic Zone of Lipetsk. The state-of the-art facility features a manufacturing plant, administration offices and quality labs and warehouses, creating one of the most sophisticated plants in the Kemin portfolio. The new Russia location is part of the five-year, global expansion plan for Kemin.

All About Feed recently talked to Chris Nelson, CEO of the company about this new facility and other recent activities as well as future plans of the company. Mr Nelson explained that this is an important part of the series of investments planned for this year. “This new plant means we can do complete manufacturing of all our products in the CIS region. We see an increased demand for animal protein and local manufacturing has become a must to the service this industry.”

Construction of the Kemin facility began in spring 2016 and the new plant will be officially opened on April 26.
