Can specialty feed ingredients meet societal challenges?

FEFANA and EAAP have joined forces and expertise in the organisation of a joint scientific session on the role of specialty feed ingredients in meeting societal challenges, taking place on the 28 of August during EAAP 2019 in Ghent, Belgium.

The high-quality programme of the joint EAAP/FEFANA session will showcase the excellence of animal science pertaining to animal nutrition with emphasis on practical application. The conference shall stimulate discussions on innovation within the domain of specialty feed ingredients targeted at meeting societal challenges with focus on the mitigation of environmental impacts of livestock farming and the reduction of antibiotic use in the view of tackling the threat of antimicrobial resistance.

Bridge between science and practice

The one-day meeting will be composed of 2 complementary sessions, with the morning session focusing on the state of science in the realm of specialty feed ingredients and society’s concerns; and the afternoon session dedicated to presenting innovative solutions and success stories. Prof. Em. Dr Johanna Fink-Gremmels, chair of the one-day EAAP/FEFANA session affirms that: “This meeting is the perfect occasion to build a bridge between latest developments and discoveries in science and practical application in the feed industry. EAAP and FEFANA are striving for strengthening the role of science as the basis for innovating animal nutrition and for building a more connected public-private network of expertise in the field”.
