23-02-2007 | |

Export of soybeans from Ukraine may total about 400,000 tonnes in the current marketing year (September 2006-August 2007) against 226,000 tonnes in the previous one, informed General Director of the Association “Ukroilyaprom”, Stepan Kapshuk.

According to the forecasts of Ukroliyaprom Ukraine may increase rape export
to 500,000 tonnes in the current year against 172,700 tonnes in 2005/06 MY.

According to Kapshuk for five months of 2006/07 Ukraine has already
exported about 470,000 tonnes of rape and 300,000 tonnes of soy. He noticed that
rise in export of these crops is connected with increase in their harvest last
year and rise in demandon world markets.

At the same time General
Director of the Association expressed his anxiety concerning the situation with
selling of domestic soymeal remaining after soy crushing. According to him this
product is not demanded from poultry enterprises that is why soymeal producers
have difficulties with its sale.

In 2005/06 MY Ukraine exported 226,000
tonnes of soy (harvest totalled 616,000 tonnes) and 182,700 tonnes of rape
(284,700 tonnes).
