Sindirações receives EurepGAP recognition
The Brazilian Feed Industry Association – Sindirações signed an agreement with EurepGAP. With EurepGAP’s recognition of its food safety and social responsibility standards, Brazil will be able to maintain, enrich and increase the access of its agriculture and compound products in the European Union, one of the main importers of feed and bovine meat.
The benchmarking agreement was signed during the II Global Feed & Food
Congress, in Sao Paulo. EurepGAP was represented by its Secretary, Kristian
Möeller. “This agreement is a milestone, achieved through the great efforts of
both organisations, who worked together for a year to harmonise their
guidelines. Brazil has already got a great concern in offering quality and safe
products. With this benchmarking, its good manufacturing practices will be
highlighted to a bigger audience. The farmers must be aware of the importance of
certification though”, says Möeller.
International
level
The scheme level recognised by EurepGAP is the Internacional
one – or Level 3 from the Feed & Food Safety Program from
Sindirações. In addition to GMP and HACCP
, it includes European management and
legislation requirements. The benchmarking scope includes all premixes,
livestock supplements, compounds and feeds. But it does not concern medicated
feeds. This scope extent is a great victory for the Brazilian
organisation.
