Avebe achieves EFISC certification

Avebe, the largest, integrated potato starch producer in Europe, has chosen to certify its feed material manufacturing sites in the Netherlands against EFISC.

Avebe is producing potato protein, potato pulp, potato juice and Protapec as feedstuff for the EU livestock industry.

The successful audit of the plants in Foxhol, Gasselternijveen and Ter Apelkanaal (all in The Netherlands) has been performed by Lloyds Register.

“Avebe’s strong management commitment for Total Quality Management (TQM) system has lead to the decision to certify our feed materials against the EFISC feed safety assurance scheme. The robust prerequisite programme in combination with HACCP provides us with a pro active system to ensure feed safety” Mrs. Sikkema, Manager Product & Quality Avebe Feed said.

“EFISC certification increases confidence in the system implemented through the knowledge that the controls and real-time monitoring are in place throughout the different processes.

“This resulting in products of excellence that meet the regulatory obligations in the EU and our customer expectations all over the world”.

The EFISC Code was developed as a result of the shared commitment between the starch industry (AAF) and the oilseed crushing, oil refining and protein meal industry (FEDIOL) within the framework of the European Feed Ingredients Platform (EFIP).

The Code is based on the European Guide to good practice for the industrial manufacture of safe feed materials, endorsed by the European Commission and the EU Member States in 2010. The code is open to other feed material producing sectors to join.
