Novus awards research fellowship in China
Novus International Inc. awarded the 2008 Novus Research Fellowship (NRF) last month. The award was created to support the development of internationally competitive research programs with promising young scientists in China specializing in the field of animal nutrition and health.
The NRF award is a monetary, two year grant, which is made to the applicant
through their University department. To qualify for the award, applicants must
submit research proposals which are evaluated by a panel of renowned scientists.
This year’s panel included:
Dr. Gary Allee, University of
Missouri-Columbia
Dr. Park Waldroup, Center for Poultry Excellence,
University of Arkansas
Dr. Kirk Klasing, University of California,
Davis
Dr. Julia Dibner, Private Consultant to Novus International, Inc.
Dr. Christopher Knight, Vice President Biology and Animal Research, Novus
International, Inc.
Proposals were scored with respect to: clarity of
research objectives, demonstrated area knowledge, achieving objectives thorough
appropriate methods, evidence of innovation, contribution to science and value
to animal agriculture.
The recipient of the 2008 NRF award was Dr. Ma
Deying from the Institute of Animal Nutrition, Northeast Agriculture University
in Harbin, China. Dr. Deying’s winning proposal is related to alternatives to
in-feed antibiotics in commercial poultry operations.
