Preview IPPE: New name for well-known concept

The 2013 edition of the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is going to be the world’s largest convention and trade show for the poultry, feed and meat industry ever. The event in January in Atlanta, GA is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors from all over the world.

Atlanta is traditionally the home to the International Poultry Expo (IPE) each January. The IPE is the world’s largest convention and trade show dedicated to the poultry industry. Attendees and exhibitors are chicken producers and processors of broilers, turkeys, ducks, eggs, and breeding stock from all over the globe. In 2013 the IPE is celebrating 65 years of continual exhibition services to the poultry industry.  Since a few years now the IPE has partnered with the International Feed Expo and will in 2013 extend its scope by adding the International Meat Expo.

The three integrated tradeshows – International Poultry Expo, International Feed Expo, and AMI’s International Meat Expo – presented under the umbrella name ‘International Production & Processing Expo’ (IPPE) will be aligning the interest of the entire industry spectrum at one convention and trade  how Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, United States. The event will be held from Tuesday through Thursday, January 29-31, 2013.

AFIA International Feed Education Programme
The IPPE offers a platform for the AFIA International Feed Education Programme, which is held on Wednesday 30, January between 8.30 and 11 am, in Room A-404. Keith Epperson, vice president of manufacturing and training, American Feed Industry Association, will kick off the programme with EPA & OSHA Updates. At 9am, Richard Sellers, vice president of feed regulation and nutrition, American Feed Industry Association, will give a presentation, titled ‘Government complicance update: Food safety modernisation act’. Dr Adam Fahrenholz, from North Carolina State University will close off this session, speaking on ‘Training new feed mill managers using webbased tools’, at 10am.

Huge response
Preliminary fi gures tell that the 2013 IPPE has surpassed 1,100 exhibitors, covering more than 420,000 net square feet (39,000 m2) of exhibit space. “We thought integrating the shows made sense, the excitement for the show has been overwhelming and the response has been even better than imagined,” remarked John Starkey, president of USPoultry. He added that the IPPE has instantaneously established  itself as the premiere feed and protein event in the western hemisphere. The Expo will highlight the latest technology, equipment, and services used in the production and processing of poultry, meat and feed products.

AFIA president & CEO, Joel G. Newman agreed by saying: “The 2013 IPPE will offer an outstanding venue for businesses to collaborate, network, learn about new products and services and solve common challenges facing the feed, poultry and meat industries. With the response so far, we expect attendees will agree that it is worth their time to come to Atlanta.”

AMI president, J. Patrick Boyle commented with: “We are gratifi ed by the positive show of support from our supplier community. It tells us that our consolidation of shows is a winning formula for the entire industry, farm to fork.” Besides the exposition the IPPE will feature dynamic education programmes that will be held from Monday 28th January through Friday 1st February 2013 and will include the annual line-up of the International Poultry Scientifi c Forum, Pet Food Conference, Animal Agricultural Sustainability Summit, and International Feed Education Programme.

The 2013 IPPE will also feature eleven new educational programmes.
