Provimi US applies for $250K for expansion

Provimi North America has applied for a grant of US$250,000 from the Montgomery County Commissioners in Ohio, USA, who are considering giving out more than $950,000 in economic development grants.

Provimi was one of the projects recommended for approval.

The US$250,000 grant is to be used to offset costs for Provimi North America Inc., a farm animal nutrition company based in Brookville, which is eyeing an 11,000-square-foot expansion to its manufacturing facility at NorthBrook Industrial Park.

The city is asking for the funds toward a $2 million project for Provimi, formerly known as North American Nutrition Inc., which relocated its headquarters and 60 jobs to Brookville from Preble County in 2008. The expansion would allow Provimi to relocate 43 jobs and a nutrition and research center still in Preble County. It includes $1 million in construction costs and $550,000 for furnishings and IT equipment, the company said. Grant money would go toward a second road into the business park.

County commissioners will consider the grants for final approval on June 7.
