Dr ir Geert Bruggeman
Insects as novel protein source for animal diets
Dr ir Geert Bruggeman is R&D Manager in the Nuscience Group, with focus on fundamental research in livestock nutrition. He participates in different international research projects and acts as advisory members in different research groups dealing with sustainable raw materials.
In 2013 he became partner of the EC-funded PROteINSECT project, which is investigating the use of insects as a protein source in animal feed (chicken, pigs and fish). In PROteINSECT, he is responsible for insect processing and subsequent testing of project outcomes in in vivo animal trials.
