Novus Int. research award presented
Novus International Inc. awarded the 2007 Novus
International Research Award at Auburn University to Mr. Elias J. Bungenstab. The
award, designed in 2004, will assist Mr. Bungenstab in his pursuit of a Ph.D. in
Animal Sciences.
“Novus is proud of its university partnerships
in the U.S. and abroad,” said Thad Simons,
President and CEO of Novus International, Inc. “The future of agriculture rests
in the hands of these institutions and students such as Elias who will continue
to improve production proficiency in agriculture.”
“Elias is the co-author of two
books, has published 36 scientific papers and is currently researching the
effects of poultry litter fertilization in forage-based beef cattle,” said
Andrew Giesen, Ph.D., Novus International Inc. “Elias exemplifies the type of
candidate Novus is proud to present this award to.”
Originally from
Brazil, Mr. Bungenstab grew up helping his
father farm soybeans and corn. He holds a Masters degree in Feedlot Management
from Texas A&M University and aspires for a career in animal
agriculture with emphasis on nutrition and production efficiency of beef cattle.
“Receiving the Novus International Research Award is a great honor, I am
delighted with being selected,” Bungenstab said. “I hope to make a positive
impact on the beef cattle industry. My continued studies coupled with this award
will help me do just that.”
