New safety research projects on GM crops
From 2008 to 2011 the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research
(BMBF) will once again be funding a large number of biosafety research projects.
The funding amounts to around €8 million.
The main focus of the 23 projects is to develop
methods to prevent a spread of genetically modified plants. Another focus of the
projects is further research into the environmental impacts of genetically
modified Bt maize.
