Unilever sells its palm oil interests

Unilever has signed an agreement to sell its edible oil business in Cote d'Ivoire and its interests in local oil palm plantations, Palmci and PHCI.

The plantations and the edible oils business will be sold to SIFCA, an Ivorian agro-industry company, and to a 50:50 joint venture company between SIFCA and Wilmar International Ltd. and Olam International Ltd., two Singapore-based companies.

Wilmar is the world's largest palm oil processor, and Olam is a supply chain manager of agricultural products with operations across Africa.
