Higher Australian beef exports
Australian beef exports reached a record 958,000 tonnes in 2008, up two per
cent on the year before.
Higher demand in Russia and south-east Asia helped drive the growth. Japan,
the US and Korea, made up the bulk of exports. While Japan remained the largest
market exports fell four per cent, and were 10 per cent below the 2006 volume.
Lamb exports fell six per cent.
