Adoption of new GMO innovation continues

16-10-2009 | |

dmrkynetec recently released their annual TraitTrak® 2009 Corn and TraitTrak® 2009 Soybean study results showing continuous growth of GM crop adoption.

The projects, which are the longest running yearly research on the corn and soybean seed markets in the private sector, continue to show the growers’ rapid acceptance of the newest innovations in traits.

Corn seed trait combination adoption continues the shift to the newer complex trait stacks. Soybean traits also continue the strong dominance in acreage.

“The acres planted using the quad stack varieties of corn have surpassed the double stack options. This shift has occurred in just three years. Farmers’ adoption of the newer seed options continues at a very rapid pace,” says Kerry Hubbard, Vice President dmrkynetec.

The market research has documented the US seed corn industry’s evolution for over twenty consecutive years, quantifiably illustrating such market events as the impact of genetically modified seed traits, acquisitions and mergers, and changes within the seed distribution channel.

The dynamics of this rapidly evolving market are captured from the perspective of the end users themselves. Over 5,000 corn growers and 3,500 soybean growers from across the US tell their farmgate level view of doing business in the $9.5+ billion industry.

At the US level, as well as smaller geographic levels, the TraitTrak® studies are specifically designed to address those US market questions most often asked by seed and related industries’ senior executives, marketing and product managers.
