BASF moves Nutrition & Health division

“The Nutrition & Health team is currently working at different locations in Ludwigshafen and Limburgerhof. At the Lampertheim site (app. 20 km north of Ludwigshafen) we can bring together the whole team at short notice.

 

“We will benefit from the existing good infrastructure at the site. At the same time, the geographical proximity to corporate headquarters in Ludwigshafen, where many of our production plants and labs are situated, will have a positive effect,” said Walter Dissinger, head of the Nutrition & Health division.

 

The core business areas of the Nutrition & Health division are human and animal nutrition and pharmaceuticals. Important nutrition products include vitamins, carotenoids and enzymes.

 

The division supplies the pharmaceutical industry with active ingredients including caffeine and ibuprofen, as well as excipients and customized synthesis products.

 

The division also produces aroma chemicals for the flavour and fragrance industry.

 

Until its establishment this summer, the businesses of the Nutrition & Health division were part of the BASF Care Chemicals division. The new division Nutrition & Health had been formed to prepare for the integration of the Cognis businesses.

 

The acquisition of Cognis Holding Luxembourg S.à r.l. is subject to clearance by the relevant merger control authorities. Closing of the transaction is expected for November 2010.

 

Following the acquisition, parts of the Cognis businesses will be integrated into the Nutrition & Health division.
