Agri distribution firm takes over postal depot

28-06-2012 | |

Consumers Supply Distributing, a wholesale distributor of products and services for farmers and ranchers, has reached an agreement with Sioux City, City Council to buy a vacant processing centre from the postal service.

Purchase of the large postal building is part of the company’s expansion plans. Aswell as distribution the company has also developed a line of pet food and horse feed. And by moving its distribution operation to the old postal building they can expand the manufacturing business in the main facility. Which is just across the road.

The products made are maketed under the brand names Country Vet, Rancher’s Choice and Running Horse.

Under the agreedment Consumers Supply will pay property taxes but will get a tax rebate of $347,000 over 10 years. They have agreed to a minimum property assessment of $2 million and will retain 70 jobs and add two to four new jobs.

Earlier this year, Consumers Supply entered into a partnership with Minneapolis-based CHS Nutrition to form Consumers Supply Distributing LLC. CHS is the nation’s leading producer-owned cooperative and a Fortune 100 company in the energy, grains and foods industries.
