Proagrica and WUR organise agri-summit for CEOs

Proagrica, publisher of All About Feed amongst others, teamed up with Wageningen University in the Netherlands to organise the Global Future Farming Summit and Masterclass, from December 12-14, 2017, targeted at decision makers in agriculture. Alltech launches startup accelerator for second year

Animal nutrition company Alltech will select another cohort from across the world to participate in The Pearse Lyons Accelerator, a unique global accelerator backed by Irish entrepreneur Dr Pearse Lyons. The three-month program will be hosted at Ireland’s leading startup hub, Dogpatch Labs, and will conclude on the main stage at ONE: The Alltech Ideas Conference, where startups will have the unique opportunity to present to more than 4,000 attendees and some of the premier thought leaders in the world. The deadline for applications to The Pearse Lyons Accelerator program will close on December 22, 2017.

Format Solutions introduces new software platform

Responding to market demand for new digital tools to improve operations, Cargill’s Format Solutions business has unveiled iNDIGO™, its new animal feed formulation software designed to calculate more precise feed and nutrient recommendations. The software platform offers a wide-range of features, including: reviewing and editing nutrient data across multiple production sites and time periods, increasing accuracy of forward evaluations by reflecting the true variability in all data inputs, the flexibility to customize reports and integrations according to the users’ requirements and more.

Phosphea acquires Elixir’s feed phosphate business in Serbia

Phosphea reaffirms its commitments to global feed phosphates markets by the conclusion of the acquisition of Elixir’s feed phosphate activities in Serbia, This industrial complex forms a new strategic hub in Central and Eastern Europe, providing Phosphea with improved proximity in its traditional European markets and beyond. Phosphea currently has a production capacity of 770,000 tons, spread over 6 production sites (France, Tunisia, Spain and Serbia).

Biomin opens new production facility in China

Animal nutrition company Biomin has further expanded its capacity to serve clients in the fast-growing Chinese market and internationally with the opening of a production plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, in China. The facility in Wuxi has 2 automated acidifier production lines with a total installed capacity of 32,000 tons per year, and 4 packing lines. The configuration will produce five products within the Biotronic product line, a family of enhanced acidifiers. Another automated production line with installed capacity of 32,000 tons per year produces the firm’s mycotoxin-deactivating feed additive, Mycofix.

Dutch student wins Lallemand Forward PhD Scholarship

The Lallemand Animal Nutrition scholarship committee reviewed more than 150 scholarship applications and is pleased to announce that Sasha van der Klein from the Netherlands, is the winner of the third Lallemand Forward PhD Scholarship. Van der Klein is currently a graduate student at the University of Alberta, working towards her PhD in Poultry Management and Nutrition. Prior to attending University in the Canada, she attended Wageningen University in the Netherlands, receiving her masters in Animal Science. Van der Klein moved to Canada to pursue her degree because of her interest in the research developed on precision feeding systems for poultry. Through her studies and future career, she is excited to help the poultry industry continue existing — and develop new — sustainable practices.

Novus International expands in Texas

Novus International plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Calhoun County, Texas, USA. The proposed facility would be based on the INEOS Nitriles, LLC® site at Green Lake. Working together, INEOS and Novus will expand production capacity significantly at the site, creating dozens of new jobs in the community. With final approval expected to come in the second half of 2018, construction is expected to be completed in 2020. Newton Manufacturing, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Novus International, will own and manage the facility. The new manufacturing site will produce ALIMET® feed supplement, Novus’s liquid methionine product, and join the network of existing Novus manufacturing facilities in the southern United States.
