US ethanol industry continues to grow
The ethanol industry continues to grow in the United States. The Renewable Fuels Association says ethanol production and demand set records in January.
US ethanol production in January was 488.1 million
gallons or 375,000 barrels per day. Ethanol use in January was 539 million
gallons or 414,000 barrels per day. The US imported 44.4 million gallons of the
renewable fuel in the month.

As of the end of January, there were 114
ethanol biorefineries in the US with an annual production capacity of 5.6
billion gallons. There are 80 more refineries and seven expansions under
construction, which will add another 6 billion gallons of
capacity.
