Omega Protein reports 2006 results

Omega Protein Corp. posted a net loss for the fourth quarter, ended Dec. 31, of $396,000 compared with a net loss of $1.8 million for the same period in 2005.

The Houston-based manufacturer of fish oils said results are due to higher sales prices and increased sales volumes, offset by higher costs of sales. The higher costs of sales were attributable to increased energy costs, higher repair costs and poor fish oil production yields.
